Inspired the Bata Way II by Gabriela Končitíková, a book about the personal growth of Tomáš Baťa, became the best-selling 2024 book in the category "popular adult learning books". The Czech Bestseller Awards ceremony took place on 21 March 2025 in KNIHCENTRUM.cz DŮM KNIHY in Ostrava.
“We are still speechless, we still somehow don't realise how big an achievement this is. We appreciate this beautiful award, and we sincerely thank all of you who bought the book. It is a pleasant commitment to further honest Bata work,“ said Gabriela Končitíková, writer, lecturer and director of the Thomas Bata Foundation, who sat among the guests in Ostrava together with Karin Lednická, Patrik Hartl, Josef Maršálek, Martin Moravec and Tomáš Šebek.
The Czech Bestseller traditionally awards the best-selling titles in the Knihcentrum.cz network, which includes both brick-and-mortar bookstores and e-Commerce. Only books published in the given year are included in the nominations. In 2024, there were 7,900 titles, which corresponds to the long-term average. Only the year 2019 differed markedly with over 9,100 new titles added to the network’s offer.
According to Šárka Besedová, executive director of Knihcentrum.cz, this year’s Czech Bestseller confirmed the growing interest in Czech works. She attributes it, among other things, to the fact that contemporary Czech authors are producing high-quality and diverse works that appeal to a wide range of readers.
