The tradition of the so-called tea gathering, which was established in the 1920s by Marie and Tomáš Baťa, was revived by the Thomas Bata Foundation in the autumn of 2022 and the cultural programme in the famous villa where the world-renowned entrepreneur lived with his wife immediately became an integral part of social life in Zlín. The Bata Villa hosts thematic talks, chamber concerts and interesting lectures every month. What else awaits you in the first half of 2025? The offer is varied.
On Wednesday, 23 April, the Bata Villa will host a discussion with the renowned writer Josef Holcman, who describes in his new book Kacířské vinobraní (Heretical Grape Harvest) the environment of his native village Vlkoš and its wine cellars and vineyards. You can look forward not only to Josef Holcman's engaging narrative, but also to an author's reading.
On Wednesday, 21 May, a tribute to the champions will take place on the occasion of 30 years since Vsetín won its first title. The team had several Zlín disciples who contributed to the Wallachian miracle. How do Rostislav Vlach, Zbyněk Mařák or Horst Valášek remember these events? The discussion is organized by the Thomas Bata Foundation in cooperation with the VHK ROBE Vsetín club and the Phenomenon Vsetín project.
The last Evening Tea before the summer break will take place on Wednesday, 18 June, and the Bata Villa will be visited by surgeon Tomáš Šebek, who embarks on his most challenging journey yet in his book Objective Finding. A journey into a childhood spent in a dysfunctional family. A journey of personal and professional failures. But also a journey of determination to defy fate and the desire to take life into one's own hands.
