The traditional May Day Celebrations which Tomáš Baťa first held in his villa at Čepkov in 1924, were resumed by the Thomas Bata Foundation in the second half of the 1990s, and in a very symbolic way - at the moment when the Villa was finally re-opened to the general public and the Bata legacy returned to the social consciousness after many years.
The event, intended for the general public, but especially for children and their parents, has over time become the flagship of the Foundation and also one of the most important events in the cultural events in the city of Zlín.
Every year, a rich programme is prepared for both children and adults, both in the inspiring premises of the Villa and, of course, in its adjacent garden. The programme involves various allied cultural institutions from the Zlín region, local caterers, regional artists and young talents from various fields, which the Thomas Bata Foundation fully supports and gives them the opportunity to perform in front of the large audience present.
