WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

Josefa Klausová (birth name Bartošová)

She was Tomas Bata's half-sister from her mother's side. After the early death of their mother, she took a role of a mother rather than a sister for Tomas Bata. After Anna Bata, co-founder of the Bata company, got married, she partially took over her place in the company. She took care of the running of some company affairs, but especially the running of the household of the two younger half-brothers Antonín and Tomas. She married Hubert Klaus, a gate-keeper at the Bata company. Together they had two daughters, one of whom was also Boženka Klausová (later married as Čiperová, wife of Dominik Čipera). In the Bata company Josefa Klausová held one of the very important roles, which was called a "good angel" among co-workers. This role was especially needed when Tomas Bata did not get along with someone - often there were very sharp scraps, after which the person in question usually resigned and left the factory. At the gate, such a person was immediately caught by Josefka and explained that Tomas was just a hothead and that he didn't mean it that way. In most cases, she managed to calm the situation.
