The lecture introduces the topic of Bata service so that the audience can immediately transfer it to their own practice.
The Bata philosophy is based on the principles of growth, responsibility and the desire to create value. Its basic principle of service is based on Tomáš Baťa’s belief that one cannot give what one does not have or has not personally experienced. The Bata philosophy of service is divided into seven stages, and the first begins with service to oneself.
“A man who is unable to serve himself will hardly be able to serve others.”
Self-service was based on the premise that one accepts personal responsibility for one's own physical health, mental attitude and state of mind. Tomáš Baťa believed that it was possible to perform one's work fully and responsibly, but to take care of one's health. He appealed to the necessity of realizing that one is only capable of the service to others that one can give to oneself. At the Bata company, there was an elaborate system of education so that co-workers could learn to take care of themselves and then transfer this self-worth to their work and relationships with customers..
